Photo Competition 2021 - Winning Entry

The 2021 Competition Entries

Our first entry is in for this years Photo Competition, and it comes from Ron Loomes and is entitled:
'Life after retirement for an old tub'

Our second entry comes from Warren Newell: It was a nice day once the sun came out and we took this on our way out of the grounds, having spent the day chatting and visiting the house. The car was not quite my first car but near enough way back in 1982 and has been in the family (passed on to my Dad in exchange for a deposit to buy my first flat) all that time but languished in a barn for nearly 15 years after my Dad passed away. I finally got round to having it recommissioned and fully restored by MG Mecca 3 years ago.

Our third entry with 2 photos: Paul Van der Hulks MG TF at Bibury in the Cotswolds, taken on a road trip from Thetford via Longbridge, and Bibury then up to Leamington Spa for an overnight stay before going onto Gaydon for MGF 25+1,a superb event on 24 July 2021. Approx. 380 miles all told.

Our fourth entry with 2 photos: This entry is from Susan Spinks entitled "Bringing the sunshine to MGF 25+1"

Taken at the MGF 25+1 Event, the picture is of our lovely MaGic, the name we gave to our Goodwood Green 80th anniversary MGTF. Taken at Burton Dassett Hills Country Park whilst on the Commemorative Tulip Road Run Celebrating 25 years of the MGF/TF. The run mirrored part of the original 1995 MGF Press Route. MaGic was given Entrant No. 041 and started out from the Gaydon Museum with so many of her F&TF friends. Captured here amongst the Gorgeous Hills in a moment of total solitude and Reaching for the Sky!
Owners of MaGic Barry Cuthbert (in photo) & Cheryl Williams photographer.

Our sixth entry is from Chris Bone, who took this shot at this year's Anglia Picnic with the lake and the cricketers in the background. This 1949 MG TC is the 'Updraught Special' named after the workshop in the USA where a lot of work was carried out on this lovely car.

This is my Celestial Blue 2002 MGTF, a photo that I took recently on the "Sloc Pass" on the Isle of Man. As you can see the cloud level was low on the day giving the shot a bit of atmosphere - Chris Shurlock.

This Photograph relates to the 'Classics at Prescott 2021' event which took place 12/13th September after an 18 month break. The title of my photo entry is 'An early morning start for the Cotswold Tour' - Vic Todman

This is our 1926 MG Super Sports 'Bullnose' 14/28 (ex Michael Appleby) in company with 'The Old Speckled Hen', (is this the only car ever to have a beer named after it?). One of the few outings we managed this summer. - Barry and Nicky Faiers

MG cars at the Malvern County Show earlier this year, a wonderful day out - photo taken by Lynne Wills

All taken on a drive around West Norfolk from Thetford, roof down of course! Two are taken at Great Massingham and 2 in front of the grand and imposing Norwich Gates at Sandringham House. - Photos by Paul Van der Hulks

I'm sorry I'm not a very active member of the Anglia Centre, but my main interest lies with the Clubmans Road Rally Championship run by the Historic Rally Car Register (HRCR) and there is only so much time. Having looked at the photos on the web page I see the cars are all immaculate, so I thought I would offer something a little different with a couple of pictures of our MGCGT before and after the recent Dansport Historic Rally in Derbyshire. The "after" taken in the morning before visiting the Norwich Truck Wash, which I highly recommend. - Ian Doble

This picture, above, from Susan Mcavoy simply entitled 'Cancelled cos of covid'

With only the 2nd part of 2021 being available for MG activities, I don't have too many trips to choose photos for this year's competition, however, I did tour the New Forest in my MGF in June and then toured both the Lake District and Yorkshire in my MGA in September. - Roger Martin
